First Aid and Illness
Accidents and Emergencies
The school is able to give first aid for minor accidents. In the event of a more serious accident or emergency happening, parents will be contacted as soon as possible and appropriate medical attention sought as necessary.
lllness
If your child becomes ill during the school day, you will be contacted as soon as possible to take your child home. You must call in by 9.30am if your child is ill and not able to attend school.
If your child cannot take part in any school activities on your Doctor's advice, please send an explanatory note to the Class Teacher.
Medicines
Staff are normally prepared to administer a medicine provided:
- The medicine has been dropped at the office by a parent
- The appropriate form about the medication has been completed by the parent (forms are available from the school office).
- The school is kept fully informed about how to administer the medicine
- The medicine is given to the school office for safe keeping
Under no circumstances can staff give medicines which are not prescribed by a Doctor, nor can we give drugs such as aspirin or paracetamol if your child has a headache or toothache.
If your child suffers from asthma, please obtain an inhaler for use in school as needed.
