Online Safety
Online Safety
Online Safety is an important part of keeping children safe at Bow Community Primary School.
Filtering and Monitoring
The school operates a robust and proportionate approach to filtering and monitoring to safeguard pupils and staff.
- Internet access is filtered through SWGFL services to provide age-appropriate protection in line with DfE expectations.
- Filtering arrangements are reviewed regularly to ensure effectiveness.
- SENSO is used for real-time monitoring of school devices. This supports safeguarding by identifying concerning online behaviour or potential risks and enabling timely intervention.
- Technical support, system monitoring, security patching and cyber security oversight are provided by SCOMIS.
All users are made aware that activity on school systems may be monitored for safeguarding, legal and security purposes, in line with data protection and human rights legislation.
Any online safety incidents are recorded and managed.
Teaching Online Safety
Online safety is embedded within the curriculum through computing, PSHE, assemblies and themed events.
Staff receive regular training in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education so that they:
- Understand safeguarding responsibilities
- Are aware of current online risks
- Know how to use school systems safely and securely
We can only be successful in keeping children safe online if we work with families to ensure online safety message is consistent. It is important that parents speak to their children about how they can keep safe and behave appropriately online.
